VINCENT GONNEVILLE
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Vincent is an award-winning Canadian cinematographer and an alumnus of the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. He began his career shooting documentaries worldwide before transitioning to fiction filmmaking.
His most recent feature, Who Do I Belong To, directed by Meryam Joobeur, had its world premiere at the 2024 Berlinale and was nominated for the Cinematographer’s Debut Award at Camerimage 2024. Vincent’s collaboration with director Sophie Deraspe on the film Shepherds also garnered acclaim, winning the Best Canadian Film Award at TIFF 2024. Additionally, his cinematography on Hunting Daze, directed by Annick Blanc, has earned him a nomination for Best Cinematography at the 2024 Gala Iris in Quebec.
Vincent’s remarkable short-form work includes Brotherhood (2019), which was nominated at over 160 festivals, won more than 70 awards, and received an Academy Award nomination in 2020.
Known for his distinctive ability to blend technical precision with a deep sense of empathy, intimacy, and humanity, Vincent approaches every project with a thoughtful, philosophy-driven cinematographic style. His work is characterized by a seamless integration of technical mastery, visual storytelling, and an inherent fluency in the language of film.
His expertise with the Steadicam has become a signature element of his style, allowing him to infuse his projects with a sense of fluidity and freedom when working with actors and directors. He is currently based in Montreal.
